Fisheries Landings from Regional Seas

R. Watson, (2011). “Fisheries Landings from Regional Seas,” Fisheries Centre Research Report No. 19 (Fisheries Centre, University of British Columbia, Vancouver, BC, Canada).

The methods, through which global landings are reported to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) by member countries, and by other international and national agencies, are presented, with emphasis on sources of uncertainties and attempts to overcome these. The results of this spatial allocation process are landing data on a ½° latitude by ½° longitude grid, covering the about 180,000 cells of the world’s ocean for 1950 to 2006, from which various, first- and second-order indicators can be derived for any area of the ocean, including Regional Seas.
